OLALA 13000mAh Portable Battery Charger Review

Introduction

OLALA portable battery charger

There are plenty of portable battery chargers on the market but most don't come close to their advertising specifications. I have had trouble with portable battery chargers in the past not working after a few weeks or losing their charge very quickly. OLALA has sent me their 13000mAh portable battery charger to review which retails for $35.99 on Amazon. I have been using the OLALA charger for some days now and have been very satisfied with it. This OLALA charger offers more than 500 recharge cycles over the life of the battery and it takes about 9 hours to fully charge it from 0%.

The average smartphone battery is around 2800 mAh so this portable battery charger has enough juice to recharge most smartphones several times. With most external chargers, you need to carry around a cable and the battery but you don't need to carry a cable with the OLALA 13000mAh charger because it's got a built-in Apple Lightning Connector that has been licensed by Apple. It has a USB port with 2.4 amps so you can also charge an Android device while simultaneously charging your iPhone device.

When I am traveling, I really like to have a charger with me since I am usually using the GPS app on my phone to get to where I need to be and this quickly drains the battery on my phone. I like having the option to charge my phone at anytime I want without searching around for a power socket.

It's a bit thicker and wider than my Galaxy S7 and it has a nice smooth finish that fits easily in my pocket. You will feel the weight if you put it in your pocket so it is somewhat heavy. The built-in battery of a Galaxy S7 is 3000mAh so I can technically charge it up to four times using this OLALA battery charger. As you can see below, I started charging my Galaxy S7 when it was 40% and in less than 60 minutes, my Galaxy S7 was at 86% so that's impressive.

There's two things that bother me with the OLALA charger. First, pulling out the retractable lightning cable is difficult and I have to use my keys to pull it out which can become annoying. There needs to be an effortless way to pull out the lightning cable. Second, the lightning cable is very short and it seems like it will break. It's hard to use the iPhone while charging it using the built-in lightning cable because it's so short. So overall, this battery bank is really impressive and well made and if OLALA decides to make a second revision addressing the issues I just mentioned, they would have a perfect product on their hands.
